Coal Certification

In this time of frequent job and/or career changes, it is important to demonstrate one's versatility to prospective clients and employers. In order to provide the membership with as much help as possible during these interesting times, the Energy Minerals Division, through the Division of Professional Affairs, offers peer-reviewed, professional certification for Coal Geologists. Coal Geologist Certification requires eight years experience in coal geology. This experience should be primarily applied and broad-based, although time involved in research is applicable toward certification. Graduate education can be substituted for experience at 1 year for a MS and 2 years for a Ph.D. Three Certified Coal Geologists sponsors are requested, although any AAPG member can serve as a sponsor if three CCG's are not available.

Contact AAPG for information on CCGs or other AAPG members in your area.

Applications are available from AAPG Headquarters or you may download one below.
