Barry Goldstein, P.G., is serving as South Australia’s Director Petroleum & Geothermal, based in Adelaide, SA. He currently serves as Councilor, Asia/Pacific Region. In recognition of his work for the betterment of geoscience, Barry received the AAPG’s Distinguished Service Award in April 2008; He is also Chair of the Australian Geothermal Energy Group (AGEG); Australia’s Executive Committee representative to the IEA’s Geothermal Implementing Agreement; Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC’s Special Report on Renewable Energy (Geothermal), Member of Australia’s Carbon Storage Task Force; and is a Member –Australian Centre for Renewable Energy (ACRE) Expert Panel for Geothermal Energy, and serves on the Boards of the Geothermal Resource Council (USA) and the Australian School of Petroleum (University of Adelaide). Barry has 34 years international experience in energy businesses. Prior to joining the South Australian Government, Barry was Exploration Manager and Chief Geologist for Santos, Chief Geologist - Bridge Oil, and Chief Geologist - KUFPEC after starting with Phillips Petroleum. He is a past President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia, and has served on the Boards of PESA (2001-2007), the Australian Geoscience Council (2004-2007), and the Federation of Australian Scientific and Technologic Societies (2004-2007). He graduated from the University of New York (Bachelors – Geology, 1975) and the University of Missouri (Masters – Geology, 1977).
